This was Easter for us. The Easter Bunny comes on Saturday and that Saturday happened to be conference weekend. My kids were feeling pretty left out because all the neighborhood kids were outside playing and we were making them stay inside and watch conference. So in between sessions we had a houseful of kids.
These are our friends the Derrs. Our kids play together well. I told them they could stay for the next session of conference and color in coloring books if they could be quiet. They all did pretty well.
Owen got a Styrofoam airplane and wanted to fly it one day. We walked up to the school to throw it off the big hill there. By the time we got there, half the neighborhood had come with us to see the airplane fly. We had about thirteen kids with us.
It actually flew really well! Since then, we've gone to get two more, but the weather has been so rainy and cold and wet that we haven't had a chance to go fly them.
It was the Chalk Art Festival and Julie and Jamison asked us if we wanted to go let the kids draw on main street. We went up for a little while, but it was super cold and started to rain. It's May for goodness sake!!
We've also had programs for each of the kids. This is Erin's "Going Green" program. They sing about the environment and recycling. The sunglasses are for her "Ecology Rap" song. Yes, they did rap about ecology. What?
This is Liam's "America Sings" program. He's on the back row in his scout uniform. He helped with the flag ceremony at the beginning and sang cool songs like "America" by Neil Diamond and all the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, Coast Guard songs. It was a fun one.
This is Owen's Mother's Day program. This picture is fun for two reasons. First, because it shows how tall he is. That microphone was set right at their height and most of the kids either had to raise on tippy toes to reach it, or it was right where they needed it to be. Owen had to bend over to say his part. Second, do you see in the foreground of the picture the crowns the ladies in front of me are wearing? Each mom wore a crown that their child had colored with a picture of them and their child on it and it said "Owen's Mom" on it. We wore them through the entire program. The kids loved it.
Just a picture to show Owen, his good buddy Zach on the right, and his good buddy Kallen on the lower right. I also think he has a little crush on the little redhead girl standing next to him.
These are two of Reagan's preschool teachers, Miss Kris and Miss Kamberlee. She loved them both. She's all done with preschool now and is ready to go to Kindergarten.
This is what she would do as we waited for her classroom to open up. She liked to hide behind this heater and wait for all the other kids to come find her.
This was her end of year program. She did a cute job singing her songs.
Liam had a birthday and turned eleven. He wanted colored pancakes for breakfast, so that's what these are.
The kids loved eating the colors. We had red, blue, green and purple. We didn't do much for the birthday itself, just opened presents and then he had to go to school. He did get an airsoft gun this year, so he was pretty excited.
He wanted to go to Chuck-A-Rama for dinner, so we did do that, and then everyone was too full for cake. After all the rest of the kids went to bed, Liam came out and Cameron, Liam and I had a piece of homemade cheesecake for his birthday. He didn't even want to blow out candles or anything. He's getting so old!
The bigger two have done swimming lessons and the younger two are in them right now. We keep busy with swimming, violin, meetings, scouts, activity days, and all the little things going on each week.
We went to the cemetery for Memorial Day to put some flowers and a truck on Grandpa's grave. It had just rained and hailed and the kids were freezing, but they wanted to see Grandpa before we went to Grandma and Grandpa Manwaring's house.
We went, because this guy, one of the kids' favorite cousins, came home from his mission. We got to go to the airport and see him come off the plane. That was a fun opportunity for our kids to see him come off the plane having served his mission well.
It was a fun time playing with cousins at Grandma's. We all played a lot of games...
Reagan helped Daddy play Oh Heck and Nine Down quite a bit. We had the homecoming, had some good food and it was fun to see most of the family.
We went to Uncle Michael's house for a BBQ Monday and he has the most magical backyard ever. He has a trampoline, a teeter totter and these awesome dinosaurs that the kids love.
See! Magical!
We will go back next month for Nate and Kimra's wedding. Vernal is my kids' favorite place to be. I think it is because all the cousins are usually there, and family is what it's about right?
